Dear Mrs,
In july
2001, the French administration bought the villa Cavrois in Croix, the
architect Robert Mallet-Stevens' major realization which has been
registered as
a "Monument historique" in 1990.
The
refurbishment of the roof and façades and the reinforcement of the shell
are financed and will be
conducted in three annual phases
starting in 2004; but as far as the restoration of the interior of the
villa is
concerned (furniture, equipment, lightning, polychrome painting, ...
all elements
which are part of this internationally praised building) nothing is
planned yet.
Moreover, no
cultural project of re-use has up to now been produced and the monument
has
been listed, for a "desirable transfer" to a local authority in the
report
which was submitted to you by Mr Rémond on November 2003,.
In view of
these information, it appears that no real
will exists at the level of the french Government to carry out a long
term,
global project of refurbishment together with a view of a relevant use for the building.
We are now
insisting
that you would implement the orientations that were expressed in
2000-2001 to activate
an ambitious programme in order to bring the the villa Cavrois to its
initial exceptional
architectural and aesthetic state so
that it could regain its rank among the
international modern architectural heritage
Thank you
for the taking care for this request.
Yours
sincerely,
